GO WITH THE FLOW. THE GREEN SOČA VALLEY

Indulge in the valley’s splendor by foot, bike, paddle, or parachute and explore every corner of Triglav National Park. But don’t just take our word for it, as European Best Destination has listed the Soča Valley as one of the 10 best places to visit this year.

The most stunning river in the Alps flows with hypnotic beauty and mesmerizing energy. Even the locals can’t turn their eyes away.

A foot in the Alps, toes in the Mediterranean

If you go with the flow, you’ll feast your eyes on crashing rapids and deep, alluring pools, soak up the sun on the river’s countless beaches, and marvel at its vivid emerald color as you quench your thirst from natural springs.  Yet go high enough above the flow and you’ll already catch a whiff of salty air, blown in by the wind from the Gulf of Trieste, and you’ll see the Adriatic Sea stretching out gloriously from under the Alps.

The fragile world of nature and tradition

The Soča Valley has a tradition of high-Alpine pastures stretching back over a millennium, as herders drive their animals into the mountains to feed during the warmer months. The fragrant herbs growing in the Julian Alps, seasoned by the nearby Mediterranean, make for some truly delectable dairy goods in the Soča Valley. The Soča and its emerald valley should stay pristine, and we can all do our part to help.
